KING WOMAN, MONOLORD, DITZ, CHALK AND CASTLE RAT AMONG THE NEW 13 CONFIRMED FOR SONIC BLAST FEST 2025

The 13th edition of Sonic Blast Fest returns to Praia da Duna dos Caldeirões, in Âncora, from August 7 to 9 and now confirms 13 more names on the 2025 line-up.

13 is the magic number! In the 13th edition of the festival, that's also the number of new artists now confirmed for the great gathering of weight and psychedelia that will once again take place in August, on the already mythical Praia da Duna dos Caldeirões.

The King Womanled by KristinaEsfandiari, are really one of the highlights of this new announcement from Sonic Blast Fest, a band that moves between post-rock, grunge and doom metal, with an enigmatic and oppressive lyricism. With their engaging and unmistakable vocal presence, Kristina and their companions promise to bring to our Praia da Duna dos Caldeirões some of the heaviest and most emotional music of this edition of the Sonic Blast. In their luggage, they bring the celebrated albums Celestial Blues (2021) and Created in the Image of Suffering (2017).

The Monolord are another of the names that will generate the most furor from this new set of confirmations. The Swedes also promise to bring weight to Âncora, and lots of it, with their powerful fusion of heavy, dark riffs and mesmerizing melodies. Having gained recognition for their impressive live performances and with critically acclaimed albums such as Empress Rising (2014), Rust (2017) or No Comfort (2019), not to mention the latest Your Time to Shine (2023) which is still rumbling in our ears, Monolord continue to push boundaries and expand the horizons of doom metal. With each release, the Nordic power trio solidifies its position as one of the main forces in the genre. ThomasJager, EsbenWillems – ele que recentemente se aventurou também com um álbum a solo, Glowing Darkness (2024) – e Mika Häkki vão fazer tremer as dunas da praia com o impacto da sua atuação.

The ChalkFor their part, they are a trio of Irish musicians and filmmakers (who have already won an Oscar, it should be noted, for An Irish Goodbye), RossCullen, BenedictGoddard e LukeNiblock. They're getting ready to put the Sonic Blast are making a real splash, representing a new wave of dance punk that is strongly infecting the British Isles and beyond. They bring with them a trilogy of EPs that have been the talk of the most reputable international press, in publications such as Rolling Stone and DIY Magazine.

The garage rock mixed with surf punk of DeadGhosts you'll also be able to kick up your heels with a little bit of energetic dancing, while our well-known stoner rock band The Atomic BitchwaxThe festival's roots will make everyone feel at home, just like the desert vibes of the DailyThompson. For fans of mind travel, there's still plenty of psychedelia, from the nostalgic acidity of the Japanese Tō Yō the lysergic distortions of the Mexicans Vinnum Sabbathi.

These new confirmations are in addition to those previously announced Fu Manchu, Amenra, Circle Jerks, Earthless, Emma Ruth Rundle, My Sleeping Karma, Dopethrone, Slomosa, Jjuujjuu, Patriarchy, Gnome, Same Area, Daevar e Spoon BendersThis makes a total of 27 artists already confirmed for the festival.

A Garboyl Lives – promotora e organizadora do evento – anunciou o festival para os dias 07, 08 e 09 de agosto de 2025, com o habitual warm up a ter lugar no dia 06. O recinto continua assim a combinar várias das experiências que já se tornaram parte elementar de todas as marcantes edições do Sonic Blast Festbeach, countryside, river, pine forest and riffs. General passes are available at the moment and early bird tickets are already sold out.

The 2024 edition was the first to take place in Âncora that sold out all types of passes (general and daily), with more than 15,000 people on site over the three days of the festival. In addition to these figures, there were nearly 3,000 entries on the warm-up and fan reception day.
