Blood Incantation, Author & Punisher and Elder scheduled to play in Portugal

Dates to mark in the October calendar are those of Elder (Lisbon, October 28, RCA; Porto, October 29, MouCo) and Blood Incantation + Author & Punisher (Lisbon, October 18, Music Station).

Blood Incantation are not just the current standard-bearers of progressive death metal - they are visionaries who are redefining the limits of extreme music. With Absolute Elsewhere, their most recent and ambitious work, acclaimed by publications as diverse as The Wire, Kerrang!, Pitchfork and The Quietus - which described it as the "most significant" death metal album since Morbid Angel's 1989 classic Altars of Madness - the band presents a truly transcendent and breathtaking listening experience. Expanding the horizons set by albums such as Starspawn and the highly acclaimed Hidden History of the Human Race, Blood Incantation return with a proposal as challenging as it is hypnotic, establishing themselves as one of the most creative and unclassifiable forces not only in the metal spectrum, but in contemporary music as a whole.

Our trip to the dark and complex cosmos of Blood Incantation is now set to take place on Saturday, October 18, at the Music Station in Lisbon, a unique date in Portugal.
To make the night even more special, the first half will mark the return of Author & Punisher to Portugal after Amplifest 2019. Led by Tristan Shone, who manipulates machines, controllers and speakers made by himself - which he calls Drone Machines - his music is deeply inspired by industrial automation, robotics and mechanical tools and devices, exploring the eroticism of the interaction between body and machine. Author & Punisher celebrates two decades of dedication to his craft - inventing, machining, experimenting and meticulously creating custom musical instruments for his impressive live performances.

Since their debut album of the same name in 2008, Elder have expanded and sophisticated their sound, establishing themselves as one of the most inventive bands in the stoner and progressive spectrum of the last decade. With long, immersive compositions that cross styles from the 70s to the present day, Elder have won over audiences and critics with albums such as Dead Roots Stirring, Lore - distinguished as "Album of the Decade" by The Obelisk - and Reflections of a Floating World, which made Rolling Stone's Top 5 in 2017.

Their sonic approach, which fuses the psychedelic weight of stoner with the progressive density and textures of kraut and space rock, has inspired a new generation of bands and helped redefine the boundaries of the genre. Omens (2020), the first album with the current line-up, reinforced this exploratory vocation, paving the way for Innate Passage (2022), where the band revealed an even richer and more emotive palette. Between constant touring and experimental recordings - such as the acclaimed The Gold & Silver Sessions and the recent Live at BBC Maida Vale Studios - Elder maintain an ever-moving creativity. After opening Tool's North American tour in 2024, with performances at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden and the former Staples Center, Elder are now preparing to release a new album in 2025, promising to continue to surprise with their bold vision of heavy music.
