Finnish folk metal icons Korpiklaani are thrilled to present “Aita,” the electrifying second single from their eagerly awaited new album, Rankarumpu, set for release on April 5, 2024.
Continuing the energetic momentum of their previous single, “Saunaan,” “Aita” mesmerizes with its relentless pace, infectious chorus, and spellbinding duel between violin and accordion. This track encapsulates the essence of Korpiklaani’s signature sound, showcasing folk metal at its finest.
Olli Vänskä, the band’s composer, shared his excitement about the track: “Initially, ‘Aita’ was meant to be instrumental. However, after sending a demo to Jonne, his response a week later was unexpectedly passionate. He firmly disagreed with keeping it instrumental and surprised me with brilliant lyrics. I’m particularly proud of the violin riff and the folk interlude—it’s filled with intriguing elements.”
Jonne Järvelä, Korpiklaani’s frontman, added a glimpse into the creative process: “Olli sent over this fantastic demo, which inspired me to add some guitar riffs. As I played, a vivid theme emerged, leading to lyrics that flowed naturally. The song tells the story of a protagonist encountering an old, familiar villager who has returned home after years of wandering. Curious, the protagonist asks about the villager’s adventures, receiving only vague yet profoundly wise responses.”
